BioBlitz at Rasor Park with guides Rick Ahrens, Becky Riley, James Hershiser

Sunday, April 28, 1-5 PM

1-2 PM Trees, Shrubs, Wildflowers with Becky Riley

2-4 PM Insects, Birds, etc. with Rick Ahrens

4-5 PM More Plants with James Hershiser and Becky Riley

This event is part of the world-wide City Nature Challenge (see our Friends of Rasor Park event pages on Facebook (BioBlitz Event AND City Nature Challenge overview) for more details.) We are attempting to document as many living organisms as we can in Rasor Park, including insects, birds, plants, and more. Participants will be encouraged to use your cell phones to take photos and upload observations via the iNaturalist app. (although this is not required!)

Gifted local naturalist Rick Ahrens will lead BioBlitz activities from 2 to 4 PM as we attempt to observe and identify as many insects, birds, etc. as we can. Bring your own HAND LENS, BUG JAR, or BUG NET if you like! Becky Riley and James Hershiser will also lead BioBlitz tree and plant identification sessions starting at 1 PM and at 4 PM. Bring your own PLANT GUIDE if you'd like.

Come explore this nearby natural area park and check out the oak savanna-prairie restoration project that is underway! Native Willamette Valley wildflowers are just starting to bloom!

Your RSVP to friendsofrasorpark.org is appreciated to help us prepare for the event(s). We will provide some handouts, and will send additional information about how to be an active participant in the City Nature Challenge.
